The woman acquitted of murdering her roommate asked for thousands to pay for her wedding.

Amanda Knox has been pleading for donations for her 2020 space-themed wedding, but the woman convicted and then acquitted of killing her roommate is already married, state records show.

She and her boyfriend, Christoper Robinson, recently launched a crowdfunding website asking for thousands of dollars to "pay for the best party ever" scheduled for next year. But the couple were hitched on Dec. 1, 2018, according Washington state records.

On their donation site, the couple asked for grants of $50 for an open bar, $50 dessert and $75 for dinner. They also sought $2,000 gifts, promising in return a "special video from the future."

"Instead of a traditional registry, we're accepting donations towards the cost of the wedding," the couple posted.

The pair said they had spent all their wedding money on a June trip to Italy, where she spoke about wrongful convictions. Knox spent four years in prison in Italy, where she was twice convicted for brutal murder of her British roommate, whose body was found half naked with a slit throat.

Knox was acquitted for the second time in 2015.

"We had to spend our wedding funds on this challenging and important journey," they wrote on their donation site. "It was well worth it. Amanda reached some hearts, and healed a bit of her own."

Social media lit up Thursday after news spread the couple had already wed eight months ago.

"We filed paperwork to be legally marred in December of last year to simplify our taxes and insurance," the couple said in a statement. Next February's festivities will be a celebration "with our loved ones," they said.
