Are Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau … engaged?
News of the two betrothed vloggers flooded the YouTube community on the eve of Mongeau’s 21st birthday, when she took to Twitter to announce Paul’s proposal.
She also took to her Instagram story, showing off her enormous ring.
Fans of “Jana” — as the couple is called — were quick to be skeptical of the engagement, especially since the pair has hinted in the past that their months-long romance was to build a bigger fan base.
It all started when Mongeau, who also once previously dated actress Bella Thorne, announced her break-up with her most recent boyfriend in April.
Two days later, she posted a video with Paul, naming him her “rebound.”
The vlog comes shortly after a video on Mongeau’s Snapchat of her on Paul’s bed, seemingly intended to quell questions about whether the pair were together.
But their fans seemed to like the coupling, leading them to do several more videos together, including ones in which they kiss and get matching tattoos.
Mongeau and Paul even released sweatshirts, featuring photos of the two of them together.
To celebrate Mongeau’s 21st birthday Monday, Paul surprised her with a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, priced at more than $100,000, then revealed a cake with the words “Will you marry me, Tana?” during a party in Las Vegas.
Fans and other YouTubers seemed to be taken aback by the sudden news, posting both their shock and disbelief on social media.
But, Mongeau responded to followers on Twitter to assure fans that the good news is real. Paul did too.
