Taylor Swift was the big winner at the 2009 American Music Awards, following her recent sweep at the 2009 CMA Awards on November 11. The 19-year-old star took home five awards, including the night's biggest honor, Artist of the Year. Swift beat out Michael Jackson, Eminem, Lady Gaga, and Kings of Leon.

The King of Pop was honored with four awards, including Favorite Male Artist in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/Rhythm & Blues categories.

The audience was wowed with performances by stars like Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Green Day and Janet Jackson.

And for the AMAs finale, American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert shocked the audience with a controversial performance.
