Widely recognized as one of the top producers in the newsmagazine genre, Charles Lachman has overseen Inside Edition's growth into the longest-running and most honored series of its kind. Under Lachman's leadership, the show has achieved unprecedented sustainable ratings for America's most enduring newsmagazine. With an intriguing balance of human interest stories, hard-hitting investigative reports and celebrity and pop culture features, Lachman has guided Inside Edition to a unique niche in the syndicated newsmagazine genre.

When away from daily news deadlines, Lachman writes history books. His latest published effort is A Secret Life: The Lies and Scandals of President Grover Cleveland. Publishers Weekly praises Lachman's tome as a "lively, revealing account of the overwrought sexual politics, cutthroat partisanship, and press frenzies of the Gilded Age."

Lachman authored two other books. In the Name of the Law – a novel about the criminal justice system – which was called "scorching and truly gripping" by Publishers Weekly. And, The Last Lincolns: the Rise & Fall of a Great American Family also received rave reviews when it was published in advance of Abraham Lincoln's 200th birthday in 2009.  The Last Lincolns provides an unforgettable glimpse into the personal legacy left by the man who could unite a nation…but not his own family.

Lachman joined CBS Television Distribution's Inside Edition in January 1989 — the day the show premiered — as Managing Editor.  He was named Co-Executive Producer in 1995 and Executive Producer in April 1998.  Lachman has also served as Senior Producer and Co-Executive Producer of the television series, American Journal.  Prior to Inside Edition, Lachman was Managing Editor of the evening newscasts at WNYW-TV (Fox) in New York. Previously, he was a Reporter for the New York Post.
