Bullmastiff Is Thrilled to See His Military Owner Return Home in Sweet Video

They had been apart for three months.

The bond between a dog and its owner is always special, so it made sense when an 18-month-old Bullmastiff was ecstatic to see his owner return from basic training.

Jason Floyd, 19, had been away from 160-pound Jaxson for three months while attending Army basic training. The family, who have had the dog since it was a puppy, recorded Jaxson and Jason's emotional reunion.

“I was in tears. It was very heartwarming and loving,”Jason's mom, Lisa Floyd, said. “I was grateful to be able to capture that so we can always have that, you know that moment.”

Lisa said when she was preparing for her son to leave, she put a few of his worn shirts in Ziploc bags so Jaxson could smell them and feel less lonely.

“It was such a calming effect, like he fell asleep next to it,” Lisa said. “They are just very close, they just love each other. They’re constantly together.”

Lisa knew she wanted to do something big for his Jaxson and Jason’s reunion, and that’s when she came up with the idea to tape it. She had Jason wait on the back deck when he returned from the airport and the rest is history.

“I never expected him to react the way that he did. I mean, I knew that he would be excited, but it was just the sweetest thing and it was so emotional,” Lisa said.

Jaxson hasn’t left his best friend’s side since.
