Low Calorie Thanksgiving Menu From Rocco DiSpirito

INSIDE EDITION learns the secrets of a low calorie Thanksgiving feast from celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito.

Imagine Thanksgiving under 350 calories.

Celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito is promising what seems nearly impossible—a delicious Thanksgiving meal without  the calories and fat.

Today, the host of Food Network's Restaurant Divided shows INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret how to pull off this incredible feat. He starts with the turkey.

DiSpirito said, "If you want to cut some calories, you focus on the piece of turkey you like, and you poach it instead of roasting it."

That's right. DiSpirito says Step 1 to cutting calories: poach your turkey instead of roasting or deep frying.

"You put in into 160 degree chicken stock, that's what this is," noted DiSpirto.

On to sweet potatoes, which surprisingly, need almost no preparation at all.

DiSpirito said, "If you just take a sweet potato and put it in the microwave for 10 minutes and puree it, which is all I did here. I did nothing to sweeten it. It tastes amazing."

He says don't add anything to your sweet potatoes because they're naturally sweet. And he says leave the sugar out of the cranberry sauce as well.

"Cranberries are tart for a reason. They taste good with really sweet turkey, that's why we eat cranberries with turkey," said DiSpirito.

And the icing on the cake is pumpkin puree frosting on sugar free, gluten free lowfat cupcakes.

DiSpirito noted, "The cupcakes are made with chestnut flour and cocoa powder and dark chocolate chips."

And that's a Thanksgiving meal that's you can sink your teeth into without expanding your waistlline.
