Dad Holds Up Sign That Reads 'SAY NO' During Daughter's Proposal

"Always with the dad jokes," bride-to-be Allison Barron said.

A Nevada dad appeared to have different plans for his daughter and her boyfriend when he interrupted their proposal with a sign that read, "SAY NO."

But bride-to-be Allison Barron, 22, of Winnemucca insists it was just another one of his "dad jokes."

"We immediately both started laughing," Allison told InsideEdition.com. "My sister was behind us so we turned to her and was like, 'Is this real?' He was like laughing and smiling — he was proud of his sign."

Allison said she and her soon-to-be husband Levi Bliss, 23, met in college and moved back to her hometown together after graduation.

They had been together for about two years when Levi said he began planning his proposal.

"Her family went out and set up the letters on the side of the hill," he explained. "We were driving, she looked out the window and I was like, 'Hey, what’s over there?' She looked over and saw it and started crying.”

Both of their families, who were hiding in the bushes nearby, jumped out along with their dog to congratulate the pair after she said yes.

"I was completely shocked," Allison said. "He told me we were going to breakfast so I got ready all cute because we were meeting his family. I couldn’t believe it, I was super excited."

That’s when Allison’s dad, Jake Barron, came out with his sign.

"It was very my dad, in like a great way — he’s awesome," she said. "Always with the dad jokes and he finds them hilarious. We love it."

Because Levi and Allison’s dad have a good relationship — often hanging out just the two of them on their days off — no one took his sign seriously.

Except maybe Levi’s protective mom, who did a double take when she caught a glance of the sign before the surprise.

"She was kind of mad about it," Levi said.

Allison insisted, "She was unsure."
