Did Trump's Remark About Weight Nearly Derail North Korea Summit With Kim Jong Un?

The North Korean leader is notoriously sensitive about his size.

Was the historic Singapore summit between President Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un nearly upended by a Trump comment about weight?

Before the two leaders shared a lunch with their teams for the first time ever, Trump began to joke around about their weight with photographers. It's a topic that is reportedly sensitive to the 5-foot-7-inch, 265-pound Kim Jong Un.

"Getting a good picture everybody?" Trump said to the photographers. "So we look nice and handsome and thin?"

With his mouth agape, Kim's reaction to the remark appeared to be that of shock.

The summit went on, however, and Trump and Kim later dined on a variety of Korean and Western dishes, including grilled Portuguese octopus, shrimp cocktail, braised cod, pork belly with fried rice and braised short rib.

And for dessert, ice cream.

International security expert and president of Interfor International, Don Aviv, tells Inside Edition that every bit of food Kim Jong Un ate was previously examined by food tasters.

While North Korea has its own approaches to checking food quality, the United States utilizes a more reliable method.

Aviv said the U.S "use[s] chemical tests and biological tests as opposed to someone having to taste the food."

As a result of the summit, both Trump and Kim signed a peace agreement involving the works towards denuclearization of the Korean peninsula and recovering POW/MIA remains.
