Actor Charlie Sheen was sentenced to 30 days of rehab as part of a plea bargain in connection with his Christmas Day fight with his wife. INSIDE EDITION has details.
Charlie Sheen was expected back at work on the set of Two and a Half Men after making a controversial plea bargain which will keep him out of jail.
The 44-year-old actor waved, blew kisses, and pumped his fists as he entered court in Aspen, Colorado to plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault on his wife, Brooke Mueller.
Sheen was sentenced to serve 30 days in the luxurious Malibu rehab center Promises, and he may not even have to complete that.
He also has to undergo 30 days probation and 36 hours of anger management training.
The charges stem from a now-notorious argument between Sheen and his wife on Christmas Day 2009.
"The plea deal wasn't even a plea deal. It was a plea gift," former prosecutor Robin Sax told INSIDE EDITION.
But Sheen's attorney Yale Galanter says it's not an unusual sentence.
"This is a sentence that is consistent with what happens here in Pitkin County, and I will tell you that the people here drove a very hard bargain. So there's nothing easy about this sentence," Galanter told reporters.
Sheen said in a statement to INSIDE EDITION: "I'm very grateful to the court. I look forward to complying with the court's decision, getting on with my life and putting this behind me."
