A little more than a week after ex-husband Nick Lachey's engagement to Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Simpson has announced her own engagement. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Jessica Simpson is engaged! She showed off a sparkling ruby engagement ring while promoting her clothing line the day after her boyfriend of five months, Eric Johnson, popped the question.
A rep for the couple says, "Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged."
Johnson, a Yale graduate, gave Simpson the three-stone engagement ring with a ravishing ruby center flanked by diamonds, designed by famed jeweler Neil Lane.
The engagement is raising some eyebrows because it comes just a week after Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey announced his engagement to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.
After Lachey's announcement, Simpson told Ryan Seacrest she was thrilled for the couple.
Meanwhile Simpson's dad, Joe Simpson, is celebrating the news. He tweeted:
"So very happy for Jess and Eric. May they have a lifetime of joy and happiness."
