Celebs Marry on New Year's Day

Both Shania Twain and Valerie Bertinelli gave marriage a second chance on New Year's Day when they tied the knot with their long-time beaus. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

Shania tied the knot New Year's Day in an intimate ceremony in Puerto Rico. The groom is Frederic Thiebaud, and get this, he used to be married to Shania's best friend. Shania and Frederic fell in love after their former spouses reportedly had an affair. At their wedding, forty of their closest family and friends were treated to a fireworks show. Shania sang at the reception.

Valerie Bertinelli also got hitched over the weekend to her longtime boyfriend, financial planner Tom Vitale.

"We're so happy," the bride gushed after the celebration at their Malibu home. The guest list included Bertinelli's One Day at a Time co-stars Mackenzie Phillips and John Harrington.

It's a happy ending for Valerie, who split from rocker Eddie Van Halen and battled her weight for years before dieting her way to a hot body.

New Year's day was 1 - 1 - 11, a much sought-after wedding date for brides and grooms across the world.

"We had a huge increase in getting married on 1 - 1- 11 over the previous year, over New Year's Day of 2010 just because the numbers go right in order and it will be a great day to remember," said Amy Eisinger, editor at weddingchannel.com.

And check out Hugh Hefner and his 24-year-old fiancee. The 84-year-old Playboy founder proposed to playmate Crystal Harris on Christmas Eve. The happy couple just revealed to People magazine that he hid the ring in a Little Mermaid music box.

"My favorite movie is The Little Mermaid," Crystal says.

Adds Hefner, "Despite the age disparity, the truth of the matter is we have a great deal in common, and I love her."
