Jeff Conaway Recovering From Surgery

He was once a hunk who starred in the blockbuster movie Grease and the popular sitcom Taxi. But INSIDE EDITION found the 59-year-old actor struggling to stay on his feet.

"They've gotten me to walking. I feel the best I've felt in a long time," said Conaway.

Conaway permitted INSIDE EDITION to record his agonizing physical therapy after a series of accidents last month where he broke his neck, elbow, and hip, leaving him wheelchair bound.

Conaway blames his long addiction to pain pills as the reason for falling and breaking his bones.

"Did you fall because you were taking pills?" asked an INSIDE EDITION producer.

"I that I would be in high denial if I said no," said Conaway.

Conaway famously battled his addiction on VH1's Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Conaway says after breaking his hip he was at the breaking point, and even considered suicide.

"There were some times when I said, 'I can't take it anymore,' " said Conaway.

He credits his girlfriend Vickie with giving him the will to live.

He now undergoes several hours of grueling physical therapy every day to get his mobility back. But the actor who once performed in Grease is now singing to an audience of one—his nurse.

Conaway says he's hopeful he will one day get his strength and his sobriety back.

"Every day is a miracle," he said.
