The world was shocked when Arnold Schwarzenegger announced he had fathered a child with a household staffer. Now her identity has been revealed. INSIDE EDITION reports.
The woman who gave birth to Arnold Schwarzenegger's love child has been revealed.
Mildred Patricia Baena, 50, worked in the Schwarzenegger mansion for 20 years.
"It's shocking to think that this deception was going on for as long as it went on, and that Maria was living in the house with this woman," says Elizabeth Gleick, the executive editor of People magazine.
The child is now 13. His resemblance to Schwarzenegger is unmistakable; he has his father's powerful jaw line and chin.
Schwarzenegger's name is not on the boy's birth certificate. The father's name is listed as Rogelio Baena, who was her husband at the time. The child's date of birth is October 2nd, 1997.
Incredibly, Shriver gave birth just five days earlier to her youngest child, Christopher. Shriver and her maid were pregnant at the same time, both with Schwarzenegger's children.
"In the coming days you are going to see divorce papers served," says Ian Halperin, who wrote a best-selling biography of Schwarzenegger, The Governator.
"You believe this is just the tip of the iceberg?" INSIDE EDITION's Diane McInerney asked.
"We've heard about one woman, one child, let me tell you right now exclusively to INSIDE EDITION, you're going to see a plethora of other women come out of the woodwork because during my investigation I interviewed at least six women who claimed they had children with Arnold Schwarzenegger," Halperin says.
Shriver was comforted by Oprah during her first public appearance since the shocking news broke.
To the cheers of the audience at the TV titan's farewell spectacular, Shriver told Oprah: "You have given me love, support, wisdom, and most of all, the truth."
Schwarzenegger ignored a barrage of embarrassing questions as he left his office.
Meanwhile, even news veterans are finding the extent of the scandal hard to fathom.
"I'm still struck by how he was able to go into a governor's campaign knowing this, knowing this could come out," admitted Good Morning America's George Stephanopoulos.
And we're learning how Schwarzenegger finally came clean with his family.
He had a heart-to-heart with his daughter Katherine about the love child over brunch Monday. It's no wonder they were stone-faced afterward when a reporter asked, "Arnold, is there any way that you and Maria are going to reconcile?"
According to a cover story in the new People magazine Shriver is trying to rebuild her life.
"She's a very resilient person and she's going to soldier on," Gleick tells INSIDE EDITION.
She is reportedly looking at an apartment in this luxury Los Angeles high-rise where Larry King and Bruce Willis live.
