Martha Stewart Laughs Off Daughter's Tell-All Book

Martha Dearest? Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis has written a revealing memoir about what it was like growing up with America's domestic goddess, but Martha is laughing it off. INSIDE EDITION has the details.

Martha Stewart's daughter Alexis is dishing about what it was like growing up in Martha's house, and it wasn't all cupcakes and roses!

Alexis's new book, Whateverland: Learning to Live Here, reads more like Mommy Dearest!

Shockingly, Alexis writes that her mom, the queen of making good things to eat, didn't have anything to eat in the house!

"Other people had food. I had no food. There were ingredients but no prepared food of any kind," Alexis wrote.

She also says Martha, who famously dresses up in wild costumes every year on Halloween, didn't let her own daughter celebrate the holiday:

"Halloween was a grim affair: there were no costumes. There was no anything. We turned off all the lights and pretended we weren't home."

And Alexis says her mom's obsession with perfection spilled over into her parenting.

"If I didn't do something perfectly, I had to do it again. I grew up with a glue gun pointed at my head," she said.

So what's Martha's reaction to her daughter's tell-all book?

Martha said, "My Blackberry has been buzzing, I get a little 'ping ping' like every five minutes, the internet's buzzing, and it's all because of my daughter Alexis."

She fearlessly tackled the controversy head on first thing on her show on the Hallmark Channel, surprisingly saying it's a good thing!

"It's not an autobiography! Let's get that straight right now. It touches on everything: food, fashion, cleaning, organizing, and me. It's irreverent and it's lots of fun," Martha said.

In a tweet, she wrote, "the book whateverland should be read as a satire."

Newspaper headlines everywhere are calling the domestic diva "Martha Dearest!"

But Martha, who over the years has had a complex relationship with her daughter, seems to be putting the best spin possible on it

"The book is out in late October wherever books are sold and I encourage you to buy it, read it, and make it a bestseller!" Martha said.
