Country Star Mindy McCready On the Run

Country music star Mindy McCready says she didn’t kidnap her son after authorities launched a manhunt for her when she vanished with the toddler. INSIDE EDITION has the latest.

Wanted! Country star Mindy McCready, for running off with her son.

Authorities filed a missing report for Mindy McCready and her son Zander. The troubled singer sparked an all out man-hunt when she grabbed her five-year-old son Zander and fled.

The headlines say it all:

"Mindy McCready Sought in Son's Kidnapping."

"Mindy McCready ordered to return her son."

Little Zander lives in Florida with McCready's mother, who has legal custody. McCready was visiting this week when she grabbed him and took off. Zander's father, singer Billy McKnight spoke to WINK-TV in Fort Myers.

"I just pray for his safe return. I did talk to him. He sounds OK," said McKnight.

McCready, who has a history of drug abuse, is believed to be hiding out in Nashville. She took to Facebook to defend herself, posting this message:

"I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me!"

But a Florida judge has given her an ultimatum—return the boy in 24 hours or go to jail.

She responded:

"No matter what happens, I'm going to protect my kid. If I have to go to jail, so be it."

And McCready also dropped another bombshell that she's seven months pregnant with twins. The father is her boyfriend, music producer David Wilson.
