Star Jones Returns to The View

Six years after her dramatic departure as co-host of The View, Star Jones returned as a guest, and there was some tension in the air. INSIDE EDITION has all the details.

Star Jones returned to The View, six years following her dramatic departure, and it wasn't exactly hugs and kisses.

Barbara Walters said, "The truth about your departure, when your contract expired, a decision was made not to renew your contract."

Jones then said, "Barbara, are we really going to go here, do we care at this point, my sister?"

"We do," Walters replied.

"I honestly don't," said Jones

The tension at the start was obvious, with everyone thinking back to June 2006, when Jones unexpectedly revealed that she was leaving, when in fact she had been fired.

When Jones left the morning show, she said, "I feel like this is the right time to tell you that the show is moving in another direction for its tenth season and I will not be returning as co-host next year."

On Wednesday's episode, Walters told Jones, "Your contract was not renewed."

Jones responded, "I made the decision that I wanted to go out on my own terms. I wanted to be able to control it."

The body language of co-hosts Sherri Sheppard and Whoopi Goldberg expressed the situation was sore.

Things got more uncomfortable, as the conversation turned to Jones' 160-pound weight loss following gastric bypass surgery.

Co-host Joy Behar said, "We were told, 'Don't say it was gastric bypass.' "

"Yes, that's right," said Jones

Behar said, "Say it was pilates, portion control."

Jones defended herself and said, "No, I didn't, I said 'Don't talk about my private way, I decided to lose weight.' "

Walters chimed in and said, "We did lie, we never said it."

Jones said, "Do you care?  I look good as hell, don't I? "

Behar said, "You do look good."

Jones then said, "I'm healthy, why do you care?"

In the end, the interview ended on a positive note.

Walters said, "We've cleared the air, you've had a wonderful career since. You look great, you look happy."
