Mel Gibson has done it again. A famous Hollywood screenwriter is claiming Gibson went on an anti-semitic screaming rant and had violent fits of rage.
Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas makes the explosive allegations in a nine page letter to Gibson that was obtained by entertainment website thewrap.com.
TheWrap.com Editor-in-Cheif Sharon Waxman sat down with INSIDE EDITION's Jim Moret.
"I was floored," said Waxman. "I think the letter is shocking. If you read it, it's shocking. I still cringe when I see the words printed on our website."
Eszterhas, who wrote the hit movies Flashdance and Basic Instinct, was working with Gibson on an epic film called The Maccabees. But the multi-million dollar project was recently put on hold.
"I have come to the conclusion," Eszterhas told Gibson, "that the reason you won't make The Maccabees is the ugliest possible one. You hate Jews. You continually called jews [blank] and '[blank]'... You said the holocaust was mostly a lot of horse[blank]."
Gibson responded quickly in a statement:
"The great majority of the facts as well as the statements and actions attributed to me are utter fabrications...the decision not to proceed with you was based on the quality of your script, not on any other factor."
Eszterhas claims that Gibson only wanted to make the movie that he once described as the "Jewish Braveheart" to deflect attention away from Gibson's notorious anit-Semitic rant in 2006 when he was pulled over by cops in Malibu.
"Don't forget, he had been more or less a pariah already," said Waxman.
Eszterhas says the rants took place when he was a guest at Gibson's estate in Malibu. He says he was shocked to hear Gibson express delight over John Lennon's assassination.
Eszterhas says Gibson said, "He deserved to be shot. Listen to his songs. 'Imagine.' I hate that [blank]ing song."
Eszterhas claims that Gibson expressed violent sexual fantasies that ended with him stabbing ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva. Oksana was was subject of his infamous rant that he left on her voicemail.
Esterhaz wrote: "You said you'd become friends with two FBI agents (or former FBI agents) and they were going to help you to kill her. 'No one will ever know' you kept saying."
Waxman told Moret, "He doesn't seem to be a person who's in control of his emotions, or in control of his faculties. If I were Oksana Grigorieva, I would be worried."
INSIDE EDITION was outside Grigorieva's house today when police responded to an alarm. And so the drama around Mel Gibson continues.
Waxman said, "It already should have been the end of his career before this."
