55-Year-Old Woman Tries for Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Team

It was try out day at the Cowboy's football stadium, where waves of young beautiful women came, dreamng of becoming a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.

Believe it or not, Sharon Simmons is a stunning 55 year old. She is married, with two grown children and she's even a grandmother.

Simmons told INSIDE EDITION, "I think it would be awesome if I were the oldest cheerleader ever. I'm 55, I feel 25."

After loosening up, Simmons touched up her makeup.

"My skin certainly will not look as young as a 25 year old," said Simmons.

But girls who are younger than her own daughter can't believe she is 55 years old.

"She looks amazing," said one young woman trying out for cheerleader.

Kelli Finglass is the director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and rated Simmons' chances.

"She looks fit. So that's impressive," said Finglass.

Simmons got the shock of her life when she realized she wasn't the oldest competitor. Another competitor told INSIDE EDITION, "Hello. My name is Cathy. I have one daughter and I am a grandmother and I am 62 years old."

That's right, she was 62. The battle of the grannies was on. At 62, Cathy Rampley was amazingly agile, but she was realistic about her chances.

So how did the 62-year-old grandmother think she did?

"Not so good," said Rampley.

Then, it was Simmons' turn and she was ready.

Sharon gave it her all, hoping to her long legs, toned tummy and mega-watt smile would turn back time and impress the judges.

All the ladies assembled outside as the results are rolled in.

Simmons said, "I'm keeping my fingers crossed."

If your number's on the board, you made it to the semi finals.

Neither Simmons nor Rampley made the cut. But they did prove to everyone that you are as young as you feel.

"Age is just a number. If there are goals in life that we want to try to achieve, then we need to do that," said Simmons.
