Britney Spears Joins The X Factor

It's shaping up to be a battle of the talent judges as Britney Spears steps into her new role on The X Factor. Meanwhile, Howard Stern is slamming Spears from his place on America's Got Talent. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

It's official—Britney Spears is joining The X Factor as a judge. The announcement was such a big deal, a nervous Spears chewed her nails bloody in anticipation.

One photo shows one of Spears's nails bleeding. The others were bitten down to the cuticle.

As Spears rode to another event in a golf cart Monday, she kept her hands folded and out of sight. And in a photo taken on the red carpet Monday, her hands are clenched behind her back.

One blogger wrote: "She's a nervous wreck."

Spears has admitted in the past to chewing her nails. "I have to learn to stop. I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time," she said.

The long rumored $15 million X Factor deal was finally sealed at a sales presentation by Fox TV in New York.

Spears's skin-tight, low-cut dress prompted one newspaper to dub the show "The Sex Factor."

Spears will be joined on the new series by 19-year-old pop star Demi Lovato.

"I'm excited to represent my generation, and I'm ready to find a winner," said Lovato.

Meanwhile a feud is shaping up between Spears and Howard Stern, the newest judge on the rival show America's Got Talent. Stern was dismissive of Spears's skills as a judge when INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked him about it.

"I think Britney is going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit. I don't anticipate great opinions from her," said Stern.

Stern made his debut on America's Got Talent Monday night. In at least one instance, he was brutally frank.

When one contenstant told Stern "My parents are dead," Stern replied, "And they died of embarrassment?"

But Stern hugged another performer.
