Transgender Beauty Queen Competes

It was the moment Jenna Talackova has dreamed of, the beauty queen, who used to be a boy, took the stage in the competition from which she was once banned.

Talackova beamed with pride as she twirled and posed, taking her place among some of the most beautiful women in the world.

Talackova was disqualified from the Miss Universe-Canada competition last month because she is not a naturally born woman. But that decision was reversed and Thursday night, six-foot Talackova towered over the other 61 contestants in the preliminary rounds and the audience gave her its full support.

You'd never believe she was once a man as she paraded in a figure hugging white gown that accentuated her every curve.

Former Miss Canada, Samantha Tajik helped emcee the event. She had no doubt that Talackova belonged in the competition.

Tajik said, "She's very sweet, inside and out. We all saw her tonight with that little spin, she's a woman."

So how did she do?

Talackova didn't win the swimsuit or the evening gown rounds, but she still has a shot at the title. Her first step towards her ultimate goal - to be the first ever transgender Miss Universe.
