Famous Family Asks for Mercy in Sentencing of Cameron Douglas

The famous family of Cameron Douglas is asking the judge who will be sentencing the 32-year-old for leniency. Douglas could face at least ten years in prison, but his lawyer is asking for less. INSIDE EDITION reports.

Michael Douglas's troubled son Cameron is facing a minimum of ten years for dealing crystal meth and his famous family is begging a judge for mercy.

Step-mother Catherine Zeta Jones addressed the judge in a handwritten statement: "My stepson is a caring, considerate, worthy human being, but never the less, the disease that for years he has tried to combat, did take over again."

And Cameron's 93-year-old grandfather, screen legend Kirk Douglas, says, "I am convinced that Cameron could be a person that cares for others. I hope I can see that before I die."

Douglas, who had a previous drug arrest, pled guilty to possession of a half pound of meth, a charge which can carry a sentence of life in prison. His lawyer is arguing for less than four years when he's sentenced later this month.
