INSIDE EDITION caught up with Conan O'Brien who got a standing ovation from enthusiastic fans when he kicked off his live comedy tour and confirmed his return to TV this fall on TBS.
It's Conan O'Brien, taking a moment to make a very important call before kicking off his nationwide comedy tour, saying, "I'm on the phone with my wife right now, we haven't spoken in a while."
We caught up with Conan right before he stepped on stage for the first time since losing the Tonight Show.
"God bless you all. God bless you, INSIDE EDITION," said O'Brien.
Once he took the stage, the standing ovation was proof that his fans remain loyal.
"I am not supposed to admit this ladies and gentlemen, but I really missed the applause, I really did," said O'Brien.
2,500 people packed the Eugene, Oregon theater for Conan's 90-minute set, during which he took some gentle jabs at his former bosses at NBC.
"This is the first time anyone has paid to see me. They've paid to make me go away," joked O'Brien, a reference to his $32 million exit deal with NBC.
Now, the reviews of Conan's kickoff show are in and they're glowing. "Extremely funny" says Rolling Stone magazine. Conan's premiere came the same day he announced his new gig.
"You may have heard, I got a new job. That's right, starting tomorrow, I'm the new assistant manager at the Eugene Banana Republic," joked O'Brien.
Not really. His new show will air on TBS at 11 p.m., meaning George Lopez's show will get pushed back to midnight. But Lopez told guest Chris Rock that he welcomes Conan.
"So you're gonna move for the white man, huh? I hope he appreciates this," said Rock.
"I think the white man does appreciate it very much," said Lopez.
"You don't gotta clean a park or nothing, right?" said Rock.
Lopez replied, "No, and I get to go to work an hour later. That's a Latino dream come true!"
