Inside TV's Biggest Night at the 2012 Emmy® Awards

INSIDE EDITION was on the red carpet and backstage to capture all the glitz, glamour and memorable moments of the 2012 Emmys®.

It was a hot night in Hollywood for TV's biggest night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. The stars dazzled and melted under a scorching sun on the red carpet of the 2012 Emmy® Awards.

Celebs were finding new ways to stay cool, Alec Baldwin got a handful of ice when he said hi to Connie Britton, the star of the new series, Nashville.

One star who didn't seem to mind the heat was The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons. He told INSIDE EDITION’s Deborah Norville, “It’s 105 degrees, it’s better than rain.”

Tom Hanks told INSIDE EDITION he cooled off with a couple of cold ones, “I had so many beers in the car coming down here, I don't even know what the temperature is.”

Norville asked Jimmy Fallon, “How are you handling the heat?”

Fallon joked that the heat was his new weight loss plan. “It's so hot here, I’m losing weight, by the time they cut to me I’ll look so skinny,” he said.

One young producer passed out right next to Deborah Norville and Jim Moret on the red carpet. Police came right over and she was taken away on a gurney.

Jim Moret caught up with Once Upon a Time star Ginnifer Goodwin. She and Fallon were trading tips on how to stay cool.

She said, "There is nothing about me that is cool right now. All I want is a ice bath."

A fan was the must have accessory on the red carpet. Ashley Judd carried an umbrella to stay out of the sun. Heidi Klum stayed cool by showing a lot of leg in a plunging dress with a split up to there. Newly-single Klum came solo.

Norville asked Klum, “I know it has been a pretty crazy year for you on the personal front. How are you doing with the kids, the estranged husband?”

Klum said, "I'm pretty good."

The wife of Two-and-a-Half-Men star Jon Cryer dabbed the sweat from his brow before walking into the theater.

“The sweat just shoots down because it is a little hot out here,” he said.

During the show, he picked up an award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and was so surprised when he won.

After his big win, a shocked Cryer told INSIDE EDITION’s Victoria Recaño backstage, “This should not have happened. It was clearly some sort of counting error. I’m going to keep it for tonight and I will only defile it a little.”

It was a big night for the Showtime series Homeland. The show won Best Drama and stars Claire Danes and Damien Lewis both picked up awards for Best Actress and Best Actor in a Drama Series.

"I just feel grateful to be asked to the party," Danes told INSIDE EDITION.

Julianne Moore won for Best Actress in a Mini-Series or Movie for her portrayal of Sarah Palin in HBO's Game Change.

Moore told INSIDE EDITION after her win, "I feel delighted, I feel absolutely delighted.”

Another big winner was Kevin Costner. When Deborah Norville caught up with him before the show he was hoping his Miniseries, Hatfield’s &  McCoy’s, would clean up. Costner was delighted that his show was nominated, he said, "I was happy for those guys because of how hard they work."

All that hard work paid off as Costner won his first Emmy® for Best Actor in a Mini-Series.

In keeping with a night of firsts, it was Jimmy Kimmel’s first time as Emmy® host. The big question now is - so how did he do?

There were some bizarre moments when Kimmel made Tracey Morgan fake a fainting spell and stay sprawled out on the stage while the show carried on.

Another unforgettable moment came after The Daily Show won for Best Variety Series for the 10th year-in-a-row. Daily Show host Jon Stewart had a mock wrestling match in the aisle with losing nominees, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon.

When Modern Family's Julie Bowen won for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, she got a shout out from co-star Sofia Vergara.

Vergara had a wardrobe disaster. Just minutes before she went onstage with the rest of the Modern Family cast and crew to pick up the award for Best Comedy Series, her dress split right down the back, exposing her bottom. She tweeted a picture of a seamstress sewing her figure hugging dress back together with the caption, "This happened 20 min before we won! I luv my life!"

“It was horrible. I think when I sat down, I was so excited it broke,” she told us at the HBO after party.
