Critic's Choice Awards Presented as Golden Globes Preparations Kick Into High Gear

Awards season has arrived and INSIDE EDITION is on the red carpet with the stars as winners are announced and preparations are underway.

Golden Globe preparations are in full swing at the Beverly Hilton Hotel where they've just rolled out the red carpet.

The weather in Los Angeles is a blustery 45 degrees and the cold front is sticking around through Sunday. Workers are starting to build a canopy along the entire length of the red carpet to protect the stars from the elements.

A first look inside the grand ballroom where the awards will be handed out shows there's a lot of work still to be done as workers scramble to get ready for Hollywood's wildest party of the year.

And INSIDE EDITION met Miss and Mr. Golden Globe. Clint Eastwood's daughter Francesca and Michael J. Fox's look-a-like son, Sam. They'll help hand out the awards on Sunday.

Last night, INSIDE EDITION caught up with some of the nominees at the Critic's Choice Awards.

Jessica Chastain is nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar® for her acclaimed role as a CIA operative in Zero Dark Thirty. But she's bummed that the movie's director, Kathryn Bigelow was snubbed by the Oscars®.

Chastain told INSIDE EDITION, "She was the one who gave me the news and then when I found out she wasn't nominated, I was like (gasp), so it's bittersweet."

Also snubbed by the Oscars® was Ben Affleck, who directed Argo. But last night, he got a little payback. He won the Critic's Choice Award for Best Director and even joked about his snub by starting off his acceptance speech with, "I'd like to thank the Academy."

Some are now speculating that Affleck and Bigelow were not nominated because their movies were too patriotic.

New York Post columnist John Podhoretz believes Bigelow and Affleck's portrayl of CIA agents as heroes doomed their Oscar® chances.

His advice to movie makers: "If you know what's good for you, attack the CIA, don't praise it."

Tom Junod of Esquire magazine tweeted: "Bigelow snub is political punishment"

Last night Jessica Chastain picked up the Critic's Choice Award for Best Actress. Daniel Day Lewis won Best Actor for Lincoln.

The other big winners were Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence who won Best Actor and Actress in a comedy for Silver Linings Playbook.

For Best Picture, Ben Affleck wins again with Argo winning the award.
