Katy Perry and John Mayer Split

It's over for Katy Perry and John Mayer, and their split adds to the growing list of breakups for each of them. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

Katy Perry and John Mayer have ended their relationship, again.

The headline on the cover of the new People magazine, out Friday, says it all: "Her Bad Romance."

A source close to Perry tells the magazine it's all Mayer's fault.

"He's very defensive and comes across as extremely jealous of her career. He's basically using Katy, who fits into his plan to stay in the spotlight right now," said the source.

Mayer has earned a reputation as "Hollywood's hearbreaker" with a string of A-list exes, including Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Taylor Swift.

Perry started dating Mayer after her 14-month marriage to Russell Brand ended. The two were inseperable, even snapping photos of each other at this year's inauguration.

People magazine reported Carlos Greer told INSIDE EDITION, "They've been together for seven months, but it seemed like they were really into each other. They were looking at homes together. John even purchased a ring for her."

The couple split briefly last August before reconciling a month later. But it now seems that this latest breakup is for real.
