Matt Lauer Opens Up To Jay Leno

After being the blame for Ann Curry's departure from the Today show last year, Matt Lauer sat down with Jay Leno on The Tonight Show to clear things up. INSIDE EDITION has the scoop.

The Today show's Matt Lauer sat down with Jay Leno on Thursday night and Leno asked Lauer about taking heat for Ann Curry's departure from the show.

Leno said, “You have been taking a lot of hits in the press lately, how are you doing? Are you holding up okay?”

Lauer replied, “I am doing well. It has been an interesting year, no question about it. The fact of the matter is everyday millions of people invite us into their homes to deliver the news. I am not a guy who complains. I love this job, I really do."

Lauer talked about his co-host Savannah Guthrie. Did she really give him the finger on national television last month?

Leno asked, “Did she flip you off the other day?”

Lauer replied, “Yes she did, kind of.”

On Friday's Today show, Guthrie said she was surprised by the big reactions.

She said, "So many people called me afterwards, people that have known me all my life, people that know the kind of person I am. They said, 'Did you?' I said, 'Mom, no, it was my index finer.'"
