15-Year-Old Wins Big in 2013 Great American Songbook Vocal Competition

A high school student has just won a huge singing competition and is on her way to music stardom. INSIDE EDITION has the story

Julia Goodwin just 15-years-old with the powerful voice of a future star.

Goodwin is the winner of the 2013 Great American Songbook Vocal Competition, which features songs you'll never hear on American Idol.

Crooner Michael Feinstein is the competition's founder. He told INSIDE EDITION,  "'Singin in the Rain,' 'Over the Rainbow,' 'As Time Goes By,' there are all these songs kids grew up with, songs they love, 'When You Wish Upon a Star,' the songs from Mary Poppins or the Sound of Music that mean something to young people and they want to learn how to sing and interpret them."

Goodwin is a high school student from Baldwinsville, New York , who is now living her dream, opening for Michael Feinstein at the famed Manhattan jazz club, Birdland.

Goodwin said, "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I get live, I mean I get to pursue my dream and learn a lot from Michael Feinstein and it's just really exciting.
