It all began when the Jersey Shore reality star explained in a sneak peek for the show's second season why she no longer goes to tanning salons:
"I don't go tanning-tanning anymore because Obama put a 10 per cent tax on tanning, and I feel like he did that intentionally for us. McCain would never put a 10 per cent tax on tanning because he's pale and he would probably want to be tan," Snooki said.
McCain became aware of Snooki's rant about the tax on tanning salons and responded by sending her this Tweet:
"@Sn00ki, u r right, I would never tax your tanning bed! Pres Obama's tax/spend policy is quite The Situation. But I do rec wearing sunscreen!"
Snooki's page was bombarded with tweets about the surprising Twitter pals, including this one:
"Good God. John McCain and Snooki are tweeting each other. If that's not a sign of the apocalypse..."
