Casey Kasem's Death Leaves Behind A Fractured Family

Radio legend Casey Kasem's death at 82 leaves behind ongoing family tension between his children and his second wife. INSIDE EDITION has more.

There appears to be no peace for Casey Kasem, even in death.

Kasem's family members were at his hospital bedside when he died, but a relative told INSIDE EDITION that his wife, Jean, was not present.

INSIDE EDITION has learned that Jean Kasem is in charge of the funeral arrangements and his children do not expect to be invited. Instead, they are planning their own memorial service later this week.

Kasem's children from his first marriage have clashed repeatedly with Jean. In one bizarre showdown, Jean threw hamburger meat at  them.

Just last week, a California judge sided with the children, triggering an angry reaction from his wife: "God help them."

Attorney John Q. Kelly is skeptical that Kasem's death will end the hostilities. Kelly told INSIDE EDITION, "It was sort of hostile and volatile before his death and I don't think anything has changed."

Kasem's fortune is estimated at $80 million. His Los Angeles mansion alone is valued at over $40 million. There are eight bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, including Jean's stunning marble bath complete with fireplace and huge shower.

The backyard looks like a park with its own secret garden.  A Greek style stone gazebo overlooks a romantic heart-shape swimming pool. There's even a sunken tennis court.

Ryan Seacrest, who took over American Top Forty from Kasem, said in a statement: "When I was a kid I would listen to Casey Kasem's AT 40 show every weekend and dream about some day becoming a radio DJ. He'll be greatly missed by all of us."

Kasem leaves a legacy of music, and his trademark catchphrase: "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars."
