Bethenny Frankel’s photo of herself wearing her four-year-old child’s pajamas is raising both outrage and concern over her desire to be thin. INSIDE EDITION has details.
A new photo of talk show host Bethenny Frankel has caused an uproar.
The 43-year-old Frankel, who markets a line of Skinny Girl weight-loss products, posted a photo on Instagram, saying she was thin enough to squeeze into her four-year-old daughter's Hello Kitty-themed pajamas!
"This is my daughter's nightgown and PJ shorts," read the photo caption. "Think we're ready to start sharing clothes yet?"
But the photo has backfired big time, since it was first posted on Sunday, with many calling it disturbing.
"That's crazy Bethenny, eat some food," goes one comment.
"You r too skinny ... Yuk!!!" says another.
"This is sickening. You're an attention seeker and you're doing it at your daughter's expense," wrote another.
Has the self-proclaimed "skinny girl" gone too far? TV personality Meghan McCain thought so.
"I have been fat-shamed my entire life and for her to act like fitting into your four year old's clothes is some kind of accomplishment is absolutely an irresponsible use of her platform," said McCain.
The former Real Housewife of New York, whose syndicated talk show was cancelled earlier this year, has been vocal about her struggle with eating disorders.
Frankel took to Twitter to respond to all the criticism. "When ur 4 year old peanut says "mommy please put my dress on" & giggles uncontrollably, u do what ur told," read the Twitter post.
She also posted this tongue-in-cheek message:
"BREAKING NEWS! World scandal: Former reality star, failed talk show host & cocktail maven jokes by wearing her kids' pjs! #itcantbetrue."
INSIDE EDITION showed the photos to Dr. Andrea Pennington, who specializes in eating disorders.
Dr. Pennington said, "Is Bethenny sending an unrealistic body image expectation to her four-year-old daughter? That is saying that, by the time you're 43, you should be able to fit into the clothes of a four-year-old."
