Mel Gibson's maniacal rants have left him in disgrace. Mel shouted to his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, "Don't you dare hang up on me!"
Now the question is, can he ever recover?
Other A-list actors have been caught on tape losing it, only to stage dramatic comebacks.
Who could forget Alec Baldwin's 2007 rant to his daughter, Ireland, who was then only 11 years old.
"You are a rude, thoughtless little pig, okay?" Alec Baldwin said, "I am gonna get on a plane or I am going to come out there for a day and I am going to straighten your ___ out when I see you!"
Baldwin admitted to thoughts of suicide during the scandal that followed. But he repaired his relationship with Ireland and is now hotter than ever. He even hosted the Oscars this year.
Actor Christian Bale was caught on tape berating the director of photography on the set of Terminator Salvation back in 2008.
Bale shouted, "I'm going to ___ kick your ___ if you don't shut up for a second, all right?"
Bale apologized and has kept a lower profile since that embarrassment. So how will Gibson weather his storm of controversy?
Mike Paul from MGP and Associates PR said, "He's at a fork in the road moment here and he has to decide which way he's gonna go. Either he's going to get help, he can't do it alone, or he's going to say 'This is who I am, take me or leave me.'"
Hollywood reporter columnist writes, "Tarnished? Gibson will be forever. Finished? Don't bet on it."
Paul said, "Mel has to show vulnerability through taking accountability and being transparent, being humble. These are the bricks of building a new reputation."
