Royal Baby Charlotte Elizabeth Diana is Named After These Three Family Members

Prince William and Duchess Catherine have named their new baby daughter and it is a fitting tribute to her royal grandparents.

The baby princess now has a name -- Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

The palace made the announcement on Monday as bells rang out at Westminster Abbey.

So, let's the breakdown the name:

  • Charlotte is the feminine of Charles, which is a tribute baby's grandfather Prince Charles.
  • Elizabeth is the baby's great-grandmother's name and follows a long line of Elizabeth’s in the royal family.
  • Diana of course is a fitting tribute to the late Princess Diana.

Kate and William couldn't announce the baby's name until they got the Queen's approval. Moments before the announcement there was a 62 gun salute in honor of the newborn princess.

Duchess Kate wowed the world over the weekend when she left the hospital just ten hours after giving birth.

She looked radiant in a floral Jenny Packham dress and three inch high heels. Her hair was also styled to perfection.

One mom tweeted, “I'm not okay with how good Kate Middleton looks after giving birth, this isn't fair!”

Now, we're learning that Kate had a royal glam squad to give her that flawless look.

Ruth Styles is a senior writer at DailyMail.com, she told INSIDE EDITION, "It is a very smooth operation. They will use the same curls, they will be the same pink lips, they will use the same eye liner."

The newborn princess slept soundly as her parents showed her off. Before leaving the hospital Prince William brought big brother Prince George to see his new baby sister. At only two years old he's already showing off his royal wave.

It was a scene reminiscent of the scene 30 years ago when Prince Charles brought Prince William, then a toddler, to the hospital to visit Diana and newborn Prince Harry.

So, how will Prince George handle a new baby sister?

Clinical psychologist Dr. Jeff Gardere told INSIDE EDITION, “You can’t avoid sibling rivalry, it happens, but you can minimize it. When praise and attention is being given to the youngest sibling or the newest sibling, at the same time that praise should be given to the oldest sibling.”

Royal baby watchers can't get enough of the white wool baby blanket draped over the tiny princess. It was made by British company G.H Hurt and Son. Three generations of royals have been wrapped in blankets made by the company. The blanket, which sells for about $100, is available for pre-order on the company's website.

Gillian Taylor of GH Hurt and Son told INSIDE EDITION, "It is very soft so you can wrap the baby in it. It has a lovely plain center and then the deep boarder pattern with the scarlet edge for decoration."

All eyes are now on Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, the baby princess who may one day take the throne.
