Sarah Palin is coming to the defense of Dr. Laura Schlessinger in the storm of controversy over Dr. Laura's use of a racial epithet on her radio talk show. INSIDE EDITION has the story.
Sarah Palin is rushing to the defense of embattled radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger following the firestorm over her repeated use of the "N" word on air.
"Dr. Laura, don't retreat. Reload!" Palin tweeted.
The former VP candidate is praising Dr. Laura for quitting her popular radio show.
Palin writes, "Dr. Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice, America!"
Now, for the first time, the caller on the other end of the radio conversation heard round the world, is coming forward.
Nita Hanson said, "I trusted her, or at least trusted her advice. So it's very hurtful."
Hanson is the loyal listener who called Dr. Laura for advice about how to deal with racist comments made by her white husband's friends. She says nothing could have prepared her for what happened next.
Dr. Laura said on her radio show, "If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race."
Hanson told CNN that she has been crying non-stop since the tirade.
"It's more than just the "N" word. I mean, in that whole conversation, she said not to marry outside my race. Dr. Laura acted as if I tried to her up. And that's not what happened. I called for advice," said Hanson.
Dr. Laura said on Larry King Live, "I thought I was trying to be helpful. I was trying to make a philsophical point, but I was wrong and I apologized."
Nita Hanson says she isn't buying Dr. Laura's apology.
"I don't think she's sincere about her apology. She thinks its okay to use the "N" word. She's only apologizing because she got caught," said Hanson.
