Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Reportedly Filed for Divorce Months Ago
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are getting divorced after four years of marriage.
The country music stars released a joint statement on Monday.
"This is not the future we envisioned," they said, the Associated Press reported. "And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."
According to TMZ, Blake secretly filed for divorce several months ago, but the papers were not disclosed until today.
Lambert, 31, will reportedly get the family home in Nashville while Shelton, 39, will keep the ranch in Oklahoma, where the divorce papers were filed.
Lambert has been seen moving her animals, including horses, a camel and a llama, from the Oklahoma ranch in the last few days, TMZ reported.
The couple began dating in 2005 and married in Texas in 2011. In 2012, their song "Over You" won Song of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Last month, the duo, who do not have any children, was featured on Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid celebrity couples. They came in third with combined earnings of $57 million last year.
Their loving duets charmed fans, but behind the scenes, things were reportedly strained and Shelton often traveled to Los Angeles to tape The Voice.
In December, Shelton joked with Jimmy Kimmel about not wanting to get on Miranda's bad side.
"Have your heard any of her music?" he said. "All of her music is about killing men and burning their houses down, beating up people. That is my wife.'"
