The 40-Year-Old Virgin Actor on Trial for Stabbing Ex-Girlfriend

INSIDE EDITION reports on Shelley Malil, known for his role in The 40-Year-Old Virgin, who was on trial for stabbing his ex-girlfriend 23 times!

"I didn't want to die!"

It was the dramatic testimony of a victim breaking down on the stand, remembering the night she was brutally stabbed 23 times.

38-year-old Kendra Beebe, a divorced mother of two, faced her accused attacker in a Vista, California courtroom.

"I said, 'I love you,' you know, 'please stop.' And he was so calm; he never raised his voice. He wasn't yelling, he was like, 'Yeah right you love me' —bam!" Beebe told the court.

He is 45-year-old Shelley Malil, an actor who played an electronics store clerk in the 2005 Steve Carrell comedy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

The couple had broken up after a stormy relationship, then Malil suddenly appeared at his ex-girlfriend's home in August 2008.

"Then I see a flash of silver, and then he goes bang, bang, bang. It was like, not real," Beebe recounted.

She testified her nightmare continued after her new boyfriend disarmed Malil on the bloodstained patio. Beebe says he grabbed another knife, then a broken wine glass and continued stabbing her, 23 times in all.

"I could feel my skin was open, and I could feel myself bleeding everywhere, and I was trying to hold my side, hold my back, hold my chin, trying to hold me together so I could get help. And I was thinking about my kids—I didn't want to die!" she tearfully recounted.

Malil was convicted of attempted murder.
