The footage, taken from the gunman’s point-of-view, apparently shows him approaching reporter Alison Parker, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, before fatally shooting them at Bridgewater Plaza in Moneta at 6.45am.

In the second video, shots and screams can be heard.

The Twitter account, which also shared photos of Williams and tweets about Parker, has since been suspended.

State police previously told Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe that the shooter "may have been a disgruntled employee."

Alison Parker was carrying out an interview live on air at the waterpark when as many as seven shots rang out. The gunman can apparently be seen on the crew's camera before fleeing.

The woman who was being interviewed at the time, Vicki Gardner, was shot in the back and is undergoing surgery. Gardner is the head of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce.

WDBJ's general manager, Jeffrey Marks, said the gunman is believed to have fired six or seven times.

"They were just out doing their jobs," he said of Ward and Parker as he announced their deaths on air on Wednesday morning.

Just before midday, the station reported that Flanagan had shot himself on I-66 around 11.25am.

Virginia State Police said police followed the suspect's car but he refused to stop. Minutes later, he ran off the road and crashed, and when troopers approached the car, they found him inside with a gunshot wound.

"He is being transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries," they said.
