Playing Sheep in Desperate Need of a Trim Loses Almost 90 Pounds of Wool

This incredibly overgrown sheep was found roaming in Canberra, Australia, and animal welfare workers were forced to call for help.

Thankfully a sheep shearer gave a helping hand and removed nearly 90 pounds of wool from the sheep.

Tammy Ven Dange, CEO of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, called attention to the poor animal by tweeting:


She told The Canberra Times: "If it is not sheared, it's actually cruel." 

Ian Elkins, a former Australian Shearing Champion who lives in the city, volunteered to give the sheep a cut.

Van Dange gave fans an update:

She also shared photos of the process: 

Almost 90 pounds of wool was taken off the animal.

Elkins told ABC in Australia: "It was a challenge but the sheep was calm and the vets gave it a mild sedation before we started the shear."
