Elon University junior Demitri Allison, who was a wide receiver for the school's football team, died Wednesday.
A college football player in North Carolina plummeted to his death from atop a school dormitory Wednesday not long after teammates told authorities they feared he was in an unstable emotional state.
Elon University junior Demitri Allison, a 21-year-old wide receiver on the Elon Phoenix football team, disappeared from the school's campus on Tuesday, at which point his friends, teammates and family asked police to search for him.

On Wednesday, Allison died after falling from a 10-story dormitory 30 miles from his school on the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill campus.
“Everyone associated with Elon athletics is devastated...Demitri was a talented young man with a bright future who was loved by his teammates. We mourn his loss deeply and we pray for his family and loved ones,” Elon Athletics Director Dave Blanks said in a statement.

According to an Elon statement, a "Gathering of Friends" was scheduled for Thursday for "all who wish to share their feelings of loss and reflect on fond memories and special moments with Demitri."
The management major was a native of Cornelius, North Carolina. He is survived by his father Mark and mother Lisa Hartman of Cornelius.
According to Bleacher Report, Allison, as a sophomore, finished second on the team with 55 catches for 525 yards and two touchdowns.
