Accused Planned Parenthood Shooter Shouts in Court: 'I Am a Warrior for the Babies!'

Alleged Planned Parenthood shooter Robert Lewis Dear appears to be digging his own grave with his mouth.

In court Wednesday, the man accused of killing three people and injuring 12 others shouted "I am guilty!" in a series of screaming outbursts during a hearing in which prosecutors announced they had filed 179 charges against the 57-year-old man.

“I am a warrior for the babies!” he yelled at another point in the proceedings. Dear is accused of opening fire last month at a Colorado Springs Planned Parenthood clinic. Among those killed was University of Colorado at Colorado Springs police officer Garret Swasey, a husband father of two, the Denver Post reported.

Dear, who lived as a recluse and held police at bay for several hours before his arrest.

In at least 17 disturbances Wednesday, Dear interrupted his hearing, shouting “I am guilty! There’s no trial. I am a warrior for the babies!” according to several reports.

“Protect the babies!” he yelled at a different point. He also screamed that he would not speak with his attorney anymore.

The long list of charges against him include: eight first-degree murder counts and 131 attempted murder charges, the paper reported.

Besides Swasey, the other two fatalities were Ke’Arre Stewart, 29 and Jennifer Markovsky, 35, who had come with friends to the clinic.

In another of his outbursts, Dear said “I’m competent” after his lawyer suggested Dear was not capable of making a reasonable decision concerning his legal representation.

Dear has not yet made a plea in his case.  His next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 23.
