Rousey accepted Jarrod Haschert's invite in August after a video of his plea went viral on Facebook.

But Haschert took to Facebook last week to say: “For everyone that keeps asking me and that is interested. Our Marine Corps ball is next Friday and no I still haven’t talked to Ronda yet.

"I’m not worried about anything I’m sure she still has good intentions of coming and I am very excited. Thank you for all of your help and support of getting her attention.”

His mother spoke to New Jersey radio station 101.5 and said she is unsure of what is happening.

“Jarrod said he hasn’t heard anything yet,” she said. “He said, ‘All I know is I’m going in the hopes she’ll be there.’ It would be sad if he got all dressed up, expected a date, and doesn’t have one. She said she would be there. A few times.”

But on Friday, a spokesperson for Rousey reportedly said she would go, as promised.

"She is going. She wants to honor the commitment she made," the spokesperson told Maxim.

Rousey has laid low since losing a bout against underdog Holly Holm last month. A rematch is set for next summer at UFC 200.

Speaking to ESPN The Magazine, she said she is down but not out since the loss.

She said: “I kept saying to myself, 'You're OK, keep fighting. You're OK, keep fighting.'"
