Sailor Surprises His Mom By Coming Home for Christmas
A fast-food worker received an early Christmas gift when her sailor son surprised her at work after months away.
Nancy Martin, who works at a South Carolina Burger King, went outside after her boss asked her to clean up a spill - and was stunned to come face-to-face with her son, Nicholas.
The 21-year-old, who is serving on the U.S. Essex in the Pacific, had been away for 240 days. His mom thought he was due home in February, but the Navy gave him leave this Christmas instead.
Nancy's boss, Josh Ray Bell, told INSIDE EDITION that Nicholas had contacted him around Halloween to help with the plan.
"The whole restaurant knew about the surprise," he said.
Nicholas' sister picked him up from the airport and drove him to the restaurant, where their mom works as the prep manager.
When Bell told Nancy to clean up the spill, "she looked puzzled because it's not really her job," he said, but added: "Because she's a good person, she grabbed a mop and went out front. The video says the rest."
In the video, Nancy tells her son: "I can't stop hugging you. I've missed you."
"I've missed you too, mom," he says.
The company that owns the franchise, Cook Enterprises, also arranged for her to get a few extra days off over the holidays to spend with her family.
