'Star Wars' Superfan Wins Competition By Watching Non-Stop Screenings for 46 Hours
What a trooper!
A Star Wars superfan stayed awake through 46 continuous hours of movie screenings to beat six other contestants to a stack of prizes.
Jim Braden, from Austin, Texas, watched back-to-back screenings of all six previous Star Wars films and an endless loop of the newest movie, The Force Awakens. It meant that he saw the latest film a staggering nine times in total.
The 40-year-old, who works for Dell, was one of seven contestants who took part in the Alamo Drafthouse's Star Wars marathon.
He stayed awake by drinking coffee and snacking on breath mints and fruit. He also wore a T-shirt and shorts to help him stay awake in the air-conditioned room.
“I loved it,” he told INSIDE EDITION. “I proved something to myself.”
But he added: “I would never do it again.”
He walked away with a seven-year free movie pass to the cinema chain, a seat named in his honor and a stack of Star Wars merchandise.
