The body of country singer Craig Strickland has been found more than a week after he went missing during a storm.

"Strickland’s body was located within the original search area known as Bear Creek Cove," the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said in a press release on Monday.

After the discovery, Strickland's wife, Helen, shared the devastating news to Twitter.

"#CraigStrickland was found today," she wrote. "He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen."

Morland's body was found on December 28, along with their capsized boat. Strickland’s dog, Sam, was found alive, waiting by Morland's side until authorities arrived on the scene.

"He wouldn't leave Chase's body until the Warden found him," Helen Strickland, a former Miss Arkansas USA, wrote online. She added that the dog was fine.

The two friends had left for a hunting trip during a storm.

Before they headed out, Morland tweeted: "In case we don't come back, @BackroadCRAIG and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma. #IntoTheStorm."

Helen Strickland had been sharing updates online about the search for her husband.

"We cannot thank you enough for the hard work and tiresome volunteer hours you poured into the search for #craigstrickland," she wrote on Instagram this weekend.

His band, Backroad Anthem, also shared updates on their Facebook page, sharing a photo of the group on Sunday and writing: "Hopeful today."
