This is one Wicked proposal.

Daniel Robinson, a New York-based performer and director, disguised himself as a flying monkey to propose to his boyfriend, Josh Daniel Green, who performs as a flying monkey at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway.

As a video shows, Wicked cast members posed for a photograph after the final curtain call on Christmas Day - and Daniel took the opportunity to pop the question.

As fellow performers looked on, Daniel got down on his knee.

"I'm beyond blessed to wake up next to you every day," he told Josh. "You're the most intelligent, talented, handsomest best friend I could ask for. You inspire me, you dream with me, and you judge me only when I ask you to."

Josh said yes.

Speaking to INSIDE EDITION, Daniel said he first saw people proposing on Broadway while he performed in Hairspray between 2006 and 2009 - but he didn't think it would be possible for him.

So "when the Supreme Court paved the way for couples of all genders, it allowed myself to fulfill a secret dream," he said.

After Josh made his Broadway debut a year ago, Daniel decided he wanted to propose to him at curtain call and got planning. He contacted the managers of the show and was fitted for a monkey suit.

"I wanted to tell him everyday," he said.

He bought a ring and flew in Josh's family from Minnesota.

"Then when Christmas arrived we watched the first act, I dressed up during Intermission, and hid backstage - avoiding Josh until curtain call," he said. "Then he said yes!"

On Sunday, he shared an image of the proposal to Instagram.

It's official. He said yes! @joshdgreen and I were engaged on the Gershwin theatre stage on 12/25/15. I'm marrying my best friend! Thanks to the WICKED family and the GREEN family (👍) for all your help, love and support. Video in profile!
