Celine Dion's Husband Rene Angelil Dies of Throat Cancer at 73

Celine Dion's husband passed away on Thursday following a battle with throat cancer.

Celine Dion’s husband, René Angélil, has passed away after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 73.

He passed away at their Las Vegas home on Thursday morning, according to a statement on Dion's website.

The family requested privacy during their difficult time.

Angélil was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2013.

Dion, 47, put her Caesars Palace residency on hold to care for him but returned to the stage in August.

The couple met in 1980 when he signed on to be her manager. She was 12 at the time.

They married in 1994 when she was 26. They have three sons: Rene-Charles, 14, and five-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy.
