Sarah Palin's Son Track, 26, is Arrested For Allegedly Punching His Girlfriend
Track Palin, the son of Sarah Palin, was arrested earlier this week on domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend.
The 26-year-old Iraq combat veteran, who lives with his parents in Wasilla, Alaska, allegedly punched the woman before threatening to kill himself with an AR-15 assault rifle on Monday.
The revelation came as his mom stumped with billionaire GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in Iowa. She garnered great attention after endorsing the controversial White House hopeful Tuesday evening.
Things weren't so great on the home front, however, as news spread that Track Palin had been arrested Monday night at his mother's home.
On Wednesday, while campaigning for Trump in Oklahoma, Palin blamed PTSD and President Barack Obama. Her son served a year in Iraq beginning in 2007.
“I can talk personally about this, I guess it’s kind of the elephant in the room,” Palin said. “My son like so many others, they come back a bit different, they come back hardened," she said.
"It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question, if they’re respected anymore. It starts from the top," she said, referring to Obama. "The question though that comes from our own president, where they have to look at him and wonder, do you know what we go through?"
A Tuesday statement from the Wasilla Police Department said: “An investigation revealed Track Palin had committed a domestic violence assault on a female, interfered with her ability to report a crime of domestic violence, and possessed a firearm while intoxicated,” the Wasilla Police Department said in a statement.
The woman and Palin had been arguing most of the evening, they told police. Palin alleged the woman had elbowed him and she claimed Palin had punched her and kicked her, police said in arrest documents.
Palin also pointed the weapon toward his face and said "Do you think I won't do it?" the woman told police, according to the documents, the site said.
"Due to Palin's escalating hostility, the unknown whereabouts of the 911 caller, and officer safety, Palin was placed into handcuffs," the responding officer wrote in an arrest report, the news site reported.
The woman, who has been dating Palin's son for about a year, was eventually found crying and hiding under a bed, authorities said.
Track Palin had a blood-alcohol level of .189, according to an affidavit based on a breath test, more than twice the legal driving limit in Alaska.
He was arraigned Tuesday on charges of fourth-degree assault, interfering with the report of a domestic violence crime and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
A Palin attorney said: "Respect for the family's privacy is appreciated as Track receives the help that he and many of our returning veterans need."
