An American woman found dead in an apartment in Austria died from suffocation, authorities said Thursday.
The 25-year-old woman from Colorado had been working as an au pair in Vienna for a local family. She was found dead, lying in a pool of blood in her apartment Tuesday evening, police said.
Lauren Mann's body was partially clothed, said Vienna police spokesman Thomas Keiblinger, according to ABC News.
City prosecutor Nina Bussek told the network that investigators have not determined if she died at the hands of another.
There have been no reports of suspects or arrests.
Mann's employers described the young woman as "very reliable, trusted, caring and socially active." Family members said they became alarmed after one of their children was not picked up from school on Monday.
The American was studying abroad while working as a nanny.
Her neighbor, Peter Kratochwill, told ABC it was "extraordinary" for a death like this to happen in "a neighborhood that is so quiet and safe."
