Natalie Cole's Son Slams Grammys For 'Disrespectful' Tribute to His Mom

While some late music stars were remembered with huge performances, Cole only got a brief mention.

Natalie Cole’s son says the first African-American to win a Grammy for “Best New Artist” deserved a better tribute.

Robert Yancy says he's outraged his mom didn't get a star-studded tribute.

"She has deserved so much more than that because she has done so much," he said. The way "she was treated last night (was) unacceptable. It was not right."

He added: "It was really insulting."

Sisters Timolan and Casey Cole agreed. "Not even verbally mentioned. It was not something we felt was worthy of such an iconic star."

Social media erupted during the Grammy broadcast.

“Natalie Cole - only a photo in a remembrance montage. David Bowie - a 7 minute tribute,” one person wrote on Twitter.

“We lost so many greats but Natalie deserved a tribute,” wrote another.

The “Unforgettable” singer’s image appeared during a montage video of artists who recently died.

She died on New Year’s Eve from complications of several health issues. She was 65.
