Police Captain Tells Gang Fugitives: 'I'll Meet You On Solid Ground Anytime, Anywhere'
Well, you can't say this cop doesn't talk the talk and walk the walk.
A Louisiana police captain's taunting video is burning up the Internet. His target: wanted gang members accused of murder and drug crimes whose victims are often afraid to come forward.
"If you raise your weapon to a man like me, we'll return fire with superior fire," threatens St. Landry Parish Capt. Clay Higgins. "I'll meet you on solid ground anytime, anywhere, light or heavy, makes no difference to me. You won't walk away."
Higgins, who's called the "John Wayne of Cajun Country," is not one to shy away from speaking his mind.
In his newest video, aimed at the Gremlins Gang, he calls its fugitive members "thugs" and "heathens." He also implores citizens to speak up and to not be afraid of retribution.
Addressing one alleged gang-banger, Higgins calls him out on camera as "an uneducated, 125-pound punk ... that's never won a fair fight in your life and holds your gun sideways."
The captain is standing in front of an armed phalanx of regional law enforcement officers and local African-American community leaders.
"Take a close look behind me. Standing next to every cop is a leader of our black community. This is not about race. This is about right versus wrong," he said, holding an assault weapon and wearing a flack vest.
Ten gang members have been arrested and seven remain at large, authorities said.
"If you don't like the things I've told you," the captain tells the fugitives, "I've got one thing to say: I'm easy to find."
