In the footage, which was uploaded to YouTube six months before the 2012 attack, Lanza is seen playing Dance Dance Revolution at a movie theater arcade near his home in Danbury, Connecticut.

The 20-year-old was reportedly obsessed with the game, sometimes spending 10 hours a day dancing to the video.

The video was first shared in June 2012 but authorities have now confirmed that it is indeed Lanza.

In the video, the people filming can be heard talking and laughing. It is unknown if any of the laughter or discussion is about the young man.

Six months after it was shared, Lanza shot dead his mother before storming the Newtown elementary school. He killed 20 children and six female educators before turning the gun on himself.

When investigators searched his home, they found a copy of Dance Dance Revolution, along with several violent video games including Grand Theft Auto, Doom, Left 4 Dead, Call of Duty and the PC game School Shooter.
